Sleepover Party Cake

Haley wanted a sleepover party for her 7th birthday.  We made her cake into a bed with six little girls in it, one modeled after each of her party guests.  The girls love it when I start making the cake decorations, they want to do everything that mommy does.  To help out they each decorated some cupcakes.

Kayla is so serious when she is working.  She insisted her girls have purple hair, I did help her a little with that part.

Haley did these on her own.  We used our craft scissors to give the fondant decorative edges, and flower cookie cutters to punch out some shapes. She found some sprinkles for the eyes. They're so cute, but what a pain to get to stick on in the right place.

To give the cake its shape, I used twinkies(cut in half horizontally) for the bodies under the covers, and marshmallows for the pillows.  The headboard is made from fondant, I had to make this earlier so it had time to dry and could stand up.  I piped on the hair and eyes with regular icing and used sprinkles to make the mouths.

Happy Birthday Haley! I really can't believe she is seven already.
